Congratulations to the College Football Champs

Roll Tide!  This is a bit late but, congratulations to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide on winning the national College Football Playoff Championship over the Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24.

The Crimson Tide scored early and often and had the game put away by halftime.  For the record it never was close in the second half and Alabama won its sixth national title in 12 years under head coach Nick Saban.

The Tide finished the season at 13-0, while the Buckeyes ended its COVID-19 shortened season at 7-1.   I saw Alabama open the season the last Saturday night in September when it beat my beloved Missouri Tigers 38-19.  I was disappointed with Mizzou's defense that night, but in retrospect the Tigers played Alabama as well as any team all season, with the possible exception of Florida, who lost by six but gave up 52 to the Crimson Tide.

Let's Go Bowling

I'm going to keep this short and to the point.  My beloved Mizzou Tigers are now 6-5 and bowl eligible.  Sure if you are a fan of Alabama or Ohio State or Oklahoma you are used to this.  But, the Tigers have been struggling for the past few years and are now bowl eligible after beating Vanderbilt 45-17 this evening.

But, what makes it even sweeter to me as a Mizzou alum and long time season ticket holder is the Tigers turnaround of their season.  The Tigers started 1-5 with a couple of disappointing losses.  But they have now run off five straight wins over the likes of Florida, Tennessee and now Vanderbilt on the road.  (The win over Vandy is Mizzou's first road win in the SEC since coach Barry Odom took over at the start of last year).

Like I said, I'm going to keep this short, but I am very proud of my Alma Mater.  M-I-Z!!!

I Have a Lot to Write About but No Time to Write

I would start this post with;  So...  but I have come to hate that word.  Instead I will start this post this way:

Hello there reader. There have been a lot of things that have transpired since I posted three weeks ago.

-The Cardinals are home for the holidays after being whipped by the Giants.

-My beloved Tigers are 5-2 having lost to Indiana and Georgia but winning on the road at Florida.  Florida is terrible.  The offense and special teams could work for months but they're not going to get any better.  If I were Will Muschamp I would have someone update my resume.

-Seriously, did any of you pick Kansas City as the American League representative in the World Series?  And does the fact they are playing the Giants mean they are playing to be the 9th best team in baseball?

-This new TV season is kind of a bust.  There are few new shows I think will make it but the rest are pure crap.  "Jane the Virgin" is funny and well written.  I also like(d) "Manhattan Love Story".  But, apparently no one else was watching it.  It was cancelled earlier today by ABC.

-The Saint Louis Rams are an enigma.  They have the talent but they haven't grown yet to the point they believe in themselves.  They got off to big leads against the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers and then choked.  This past week though they grew.  They jumped on the defending world champion Seattle Seahawks and held on to win 28-26.

That's it in a nutshell.  I will try to write soon but don't hold your breath. Adios.

Go Cards!

Here it is the middle of October and the St. Louis Cardinals are again in the National League Championship series.  This is the third year in a row where the Cardinals have made the League Championship series.  Only one other team in baseball can say this.   As I write, the Cards lead Los Angeles three games to two.  The Birds have been a lot of fun in this season where they have overcome way too many injuries of which to write.

At the same time the Cardinals are making a run for the World Series, my beloved Missouri Tigers are off to a 6-0 start coming off of a huge win last Saturday in Athens, Georgia.  Mizzou went down to Georgia and beat up on the then seventh ranked Bulldogs 41-26.  The Tigers defense came up with four turnovers in the game.  The Tigers are playing the Florida Gators this Saturday at the "ZOU".  A sellout is expected for Mizzou's first home SEC game this year.  Go Tigers!  M-I-Z!!!

And finally the St. Louis Rams are at 3-3 having beaten the Houston Texans last week in Texas.  The Rams are again on the road this weekend against Carolina.  Go Rams!!!

I love October!
