I am still in a state of mourning as I write this. My Missouri Tigers got beaten badly yesterday evening by the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome. The final was 59-42.
Had you told me ahead of time that Mizzou would score 42 points I would have told you they would win easily. But that was not the case. The Auburn rushing game moved the ball at will against Mizzou. The game was closer than the final score, as Missouri had to go on a fourth and a yard very late in the game from their own seven yard line. Mizzou failed to convert. Auburn scored a few plays later. My congratulations to Auburn and their fans. The "War Eagles" were obviously the better team. I will cheer for them in the BCS championship game against Florida State. (The final BCS ratings are not out as I write this, but I trust Auburn will leap frog Ohio State after it's loss last night).
Obviously I was disappointed in the outcome. But, I am not down on my beloved Tigers. They are 11-2 at this point and set up to play in a top notch non-BCS game. Most teams in the country would kill for this opportunity. I am hearing Mizzou will play in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State. To me a trip to Dallas would be a great way to spend the first week of January.
Mizzou you may have been beaten yesterday, but you are still champs to me.
