It Wasn't Pretty...But It Was a Win

My beloved Mizzou Tigers knocked off Northwestern this evening in the Alamo Bowl by 30-23 count in overtime. But, the Tigers played an ugly, ugly ballgame and at times looked unprepared and not too interested in the game.

The key to the game was a missed extra point by the Northwestern kicker early in the third quarter. If he makes the kick the Wildcats win the game 24-23 in regulation. And, you have to give credit to Tiger receiver Jeremy Maclin for a 75 yard punt return late in the second quarter that brought the Tigers even at ten each at halftime.

The real star of the game and MVP in my book (The media gave it to Maclin) is Sean Witherspoon of the Tiger defense. Witherspoon had 13 tackles and came up with big plays time after time. When someone needed to step up "Spoon" did so.

The win gives Missouri it's first back to back ten win seasons and a 22-6 record in the past two years. And it is the second bowl victory of 2009. The first was Mizzou's win over Arkansas 363 days ago. So, to wrap this up, "How 'Bout Them Tigers"!

MIZZOU-RAH!!!
