Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been so richly blessed by God Almighty I sometimes take those things for granted. I cannot express my thanks for the love shown to me by my family and friends. I live in a nation where I am free to worship as I wish; a nation where I am free to come and go wherever I wish whenever I want. I have a warm roof over my head and a comfortable bed to sleep in each night. This is made possible by the sacrifices of others who put their lives on the line to protect me 24 hours a day. When I open the fridge there is way more in it than I have ever done anything to deserve. If I want for anything I have been given the means to buy it by the work I've been given at a great organization. For all of these and all past blessings I say thank you Lord!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving 2011...Come and Almost Gone

This weekend has flown by to say the least. Seems as if I was just walking out of the office on Wednesday afternoon, looking forward to two days off. Thanksgiving with the family involved me smoking the Turkey outside on the Weber. Inside we had all of the trimmings including a fresh baked Cherry Pie. It was a lot of work but it was a lot of fun to spend time with family.

Friday was just the opposite. Very laid back with nothing on the agenda and my butt wasn't anywhere near a shopping center or strip mall. Ugh, I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would want to get in with all of that pushing and shoving for Christmas gifts. Nope, I spent my time watching football, drinking beer and eating leftover Turkey sandwiches like you're supposed to.

Saturday was another quiet day watching football and relaxing. I was pleased to see my Missouri Tigers beat Kansas 24-10. The Tigers ended the regular season at 7-5 and are now awaiting a bowl game invite.

And today the Saint Louis Rams played as expected and lost to a bad Arizona Cardinals team. The final was 23-20. Some things just don't change, including going back to work in the morning.

Thanksgiving Addendum

I was remiss in not giving thanks to the families of our troops in my initial Thanksgiving post below this one. Not only are the soldiers making a huge sacrifice but so are their families in living day to day without a spouse, parent, son or daughter. So thank you to those families who are also making that sacrifice.

Pardon the above pun on words. Yeah, I just wanted to tell everyone what I am thankful for. (Oh yeah, never end a sentence with a preposition).

I am thankful for my family and my friends. And, I am thankful for my health. But, I am very thankful for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan who are fighting for the American way of life this Thanksgiving weekend. I have been very richly blessed and have more than I should. So, thank you Lord for all that I have. I have more than I possibly deserve.
